Session Description

Ever struggle to bring your meditation practice off the cushion and into your life? One reason it’s hard: we usually practice alone, eyes closed, in silence. But our days are spent in relationship — eyes open, talking.

Insight Dialogue bridges that gap. It takes relationality itself as the object of awareness: we meditate with partners, eyes open, out loud. The aim is the same as in silent practice — understanding suffering, and realizing freedom from suffering, here and now.

What’s different is that relationship amplifies mindfulness and concentration, and together we can see what we miss on our own. The Dhamma lands in an immediate, embodied way that you can use the moment you leave the room.

Over four weeks, participants will learn the six guidelines of Insight Dialogue. Each two-hour session includes silent meditation, instruction on the guidelines, and contemplation practice with meditation partners.

Our time together is focused on practice. Readings from Gregory Kramer’s Insight Dialogue: The Interpersonal Path to Freedom are recommended for context, and additional practice resources will be emailed between sessions.

Participants are warmly invited to continue their practice with a non-residential weekend retreat on November 14–15, bringing together those who have just completed this course with experienced Insight Dialogue practitioners — a chance to deepen your practice alongside seasoned partners.

Recommended Reading

Insight Dialogue: The Interpersonal Path to Freedom, by Gregory Kramer. Suggested reading prior to the first session: Pgs 1 – 99.

Experience Requirements

This is an introduction to Insight Dialogue, not to meditation. No prior experience with Insight Dialogue is needed, but you should come with an established mindfulness practice. Those already familiar with Insight Dialogue are welcome too.

Registration & Donation
