TALKS

Dharma Talks

Seattle Insight has an extensive library of recorded Dharma talks. All talks are chronologically archived in the Talk Library. The Talk Series Library catalogs talks given with an annual teaching series or during a daylong or nonresidential weekend retreat. Both libraries have search functions to assist you in finding talks relating to a topic or event, or given by a particular teacher. The Introduction to Meditation Class page has links to select class series.

Ongoing Practice Support

Introduction to Meditation Classes

Introduction to meditation classes are offered three times during the year. See the upcoming schedule here.

Ongoing Regular Practice

Having an ongoing group to sit with can give strength and energy to our personal meditation practice – and help cultivate community! More information about Ongoing Practice here.

Affinity Groups

Affinity groups provide the opportunity for Seattle Insight  practitioners to develop sangha by practicing and socializing with other like-minded individuals. Affinity groups that currently exist at Seattle Insight are found on this page

Local Monasteries

Several monasteries in the Seattle area provide opportunities for expanding and enriching your understanding of Buddhism and your daily practice. See the local monasteries.

Nonresidential Retreats

Retreat is especially useful in strengthening practice capacity.  The combination of a dedicated practice period, increased meditation and continuity of mindfulness provide the ideal conditions for greater understanding and wisdom.  More information about nonresidential retreats and daylongs here.

Residential Retreat Centers

Residential retreats allow participants to deepen their mindfulness practice within a continuous environment that includes periods of sitting, walking and dharma talks. For more information see the list of residential retreats centers on this page.

Personal Practice Interviews

Seattle Insight offers one-on-one practice interviews with Guiding and Assistant Teachers. These provide a space for personal questions or concerns that may be difficult to share in group settings, supporting and deepening individual practice. Please review Interview Practice Meetings page.

Core Buddhist Teachings

The Buddha lived 2,600 years ago. He was a real person with bodily pains and difficult relatives just like us, but he found complete freedom in the midst of these challenges. The Buddha’s teachings spread across Asia, and Buddhist practices have been adapted to many cultures and peoples.
