Volunteering is the heart of Seattle Insight, which thrives because of the participation of our sangha. Our programs are possible only through the dedication, commitment and generosity of our volunteers. We need your help to continue to offer sits, talks, classes, and retreats. Volunteering facilitates deeper connections and is an easy way to make new friends in the sangha. If you have special skills, talents and/or a willingness to learn, consider volunteering. We welcome both in-person volunteers and online volunteers. Volunteering online is a great way to contribute, especially for those who live outside the Seattle area or are unable to travel easily.
Listen to Nana’s story below about how meeting our Guiding Teacher, Tuere Sala, led him to use the Dharma to find presence and light in these times.
By remembering that it’s not personal, not perfect, and not permanent, I’ve been able to hold a lot of spaciousness in my life. Through these dark COVID days, the Dharma has made daily living….well, liveable. For that I am immensely grateful.
The Dharma has let me explore my mind and find a deeper sense of ease and peace.
The Dharma has been a central influence in my life since I started practicing more than a decade ago. It provides a pragmatic and spiritual understanding of the world and how to move towards being a more considerate and authentic person.
This Seattle Insight group has met together for many years to explore, in the context of our Dharma practice, our common interest in learning to be present for death and dying. Our shared purpose has been to get more comfortable with death and the process of dying, to hone our awareness of the obstacles to presence, and to practice less fear and separation – so that we can turn towards death and dying rather than turn away when it arises in our lives.
Please contact us if your loved one is terminally ill and would like to learn more about what we do. Contact Tracy Bell.
Affinity groups are smaller communities within a larger Dharma sangha (community) that share a common identity or experience.
The Climate Action Group at Seattle Insight was started in May of 2018 by a few sangha members concerned about the climate crisis.
Kalyana Mitta is a Pali term which means “spiritual friend.” Often used to describe someone who is a guide, support or merely co-traveler.
