Description
Pausing to see what is important, and appreciating the space the pause offers.
Homework
Ask yourself what is important. Take time and reflect upon the answer. If your answer is something or someone (home, family, children) that is time limited, then separation is inevitable. So what is deeply important, not temporally important, to you? How much focus do you give these deeper issues? How does your lifestyle detract from the answer? Renunciation is not backing away but pausing and examining what is pushing you forward. What lifestyle changes do you need to make to bring yourself in line with what is deeply important? Make a list of these behaviors. For instance, slow down, make meaningful contact with each person, spend more time in nature, or have a regular sitting. Look over this list and develop an intention to move forward. Be aware that the old patterns that kept you from what is important will not just go away. When these old patterns reemerge, start by pausing and considering what is important, and then proceed with the changes you have determined. Intention needs to be acted upon to change old patterns.
