What view do you bring to your meditation practice? Observe whether your meditation has a goal or achievement associated with it. What is your relationship to the various states of mind as they arise? Do you want anything from them? Can you leave them completely alone? Are you struggling with the noise of thinking? Try to relax and bring the wise view of just listening into your practice. Do nothing but listen. Let your listening be expansive and inclusive. Listen through the thoughts to the stillness that underlies the thinking itself. Do not become frustrated with this exercise. Frustration is an action from confusion. It is not listening. Have faith in the power of just listening where no action is needed.
