Description

Join us for a nourishing day-long retreat dedicated to deepening Metta, or lovingkindness, through the relational meditation practice of Insight Dialogue. This retreat is in-person only and will be led by Anna-Brown Griswold and a guest.   Registration is required for this daylong.

In this retreat, we’ll explore Metta not only as a heart quality to be cultivated inwardly, but as a living relational practice that develops inner strength and a vast heart– moment by moment, breath by breath. We’ll investigate what it means to meet our experience, ourselves, and one another with unconditional friendliness. This includes welcoming the difficult, the messy, and the unexpected in ourselves and in the world with curiosity and care.

Practicing Metta through Insight Dialogue supports the cultivation of inner strength, steadiness, and resilience—resources we need more than ever in these deeply troubling times. As we turn toward one another with loving kindness, we remember our capacity for connection, courage, and collective well-being.

Rooted in early Buddhist teachings and contemplative presence, Insight Dialogue is an interpersonal meditation practice that brings the deep stillness of silent mindfulness into relating with others. Its meditation guidelines invite us to pause, attune, and speak and listen from presence—awakening together to the unfolding of experience. In this shared space, insight and compassion naturally arise.

The day will include:

  • Guided meditation and silent sitting
  • Insight Dialogue contemplative practice in dyads and small groups
  • Periods of silence
  • Time for Q&A and group sharing

No prior experience with Insight Dialogue is required, though some familiarity with meditation and/or Metta practice is recommended. Whether you’re new to this way of practicing or returning to deepen your understanding, you are welcome. Spanish translation will be available.

Together, we will co-create a brave, compassionate field of practice, cultivating the capacity to meet all that arises—with ourselves and each other—in the spirit of loving awareness.

About Anna-Brown Griswold

Anna-Brown fell in love with Insight Dialogue practice in 2012 after nearly twenty years of practice and study in the Tibetan and Zen koan lineages of Buddhism, including monastic practice and extended solitary retreats. For most of her adult life she’s been experimenting with how to integrate the awakening power of dharma practice, the skills of psychotherapeutic healing, and an embodied lens of social justice. Anna-Brown currently shares Insight Dialogue practice online and locally in Seattle, WA, where she works as a trauma therapist and facilitator. As a mom to a toddler, bringing Insight Dialogue into the whole beautiful mess of parenting is an ongoing practice.
