Worry demands that you work endlessly toward the resolution of the future and requires you to see problems as an imposition with a correctable alternative that you have the power to solve. Belief in worry sets you up to be a “God in waiting,” waiting for the future to affirm your desire and control. This mind belief needs investigation. Observe the sense of power you derive through worry, how the future needs your involvement. Test the accuracy of this claim by surrendering to the unknowable future. Let the result unfold as it will without leaning into the future with anxiety. Whenever you find yourself worrying, simply say, “Let this be as it will.” It may or may not turn out as you wish. Either way, you can work with the results. What separates a spiritual life from a secular one is working with rather than controlling the result.
