Where do you believe yourself to be special and rank above others? How does this pride play through your actions of body, speech, and mind? For instance, are only certain people worth knowing? How much of this stance is an aversion to feeling ordinary? Look around and notice people you think are ordinary. Watch how your assumption of ordinariness carries a value judgment. Notice the arrogance that arises when you are around such people. Sit down with a person you evaluate as uninspiring and have a conversation. Can you discover anything unique about the person? Focus on the humanity that sits before you. What defines a person’s worth? Now look at what is ordinary about you. How do you relate to these qualities in yourself?
