Description

The Second Foundation of Feelings is most easily held within the First Foundation of Body. The body gives clues to the mind’s feelings. Postures such as physically leaning toward, away, or wandering in confusion show that the body is moving in alignment to a conditioned reference.

Homework

Practice the vertical stance of receiving. Use phrases such as “let it be,” “let go,” or “release” as ways to prompt this attitude. What fears arise when you move into this stance? Does it feel like a loss of control and influence? Are you willing to drop what you want and ask, “Where is the vertical stance in this moment?” Does this stance make sense from the spiritual perspective of “wise view?” Why is this so? What occurs when you receive the world that does not happen when you push forward or lean backward in time? What does receiving have to do with trust and faith? Practice the art of listening from this posture of receiving. Receive the other person, not only the person’s words.
