Here and now is a felt sense.
Here and now is when we are able to be available and aligned.
Here and now is inherently satisfying in and of itself.
Available and aligned in the here and now creates a feeling of a ground.
One feels grounded in being present.
A ground in which we are available to the Dhamma.
Nothing is done; no demand is made.
We make ourselves available and the ground naturally arises.
– Phillip Moffitt, from a forthcoming book
Living in a time characterized by pain and confusion, we can lose the thread of our own well-being. In such times, we need to remember why we practice. How easy it is for the idea of practice to feel distant or vague. And we can struggle to find the path and the ground that practice offers. In this weekend online retreat, the focus will be on renewing our practice. The aim is to rediscover the here and now of practice, the here and now where we find the clarity of relating to our inner and outer experience through the Dhamma.
We come on retreat in order to collect and unify our mind-hearts. We come to be in sangha-community with others. We come for the quiet. We come for the stillness. We come to fortify and reinvigorate our relationship with the here and now.
The retreat will consist of sitting and walking meditation, short dharma talks, and time for questions and responses. You will also get the opportunity to practice with Phillip Moffitt’s “Naturally Arising” practice method.
This retreat is open to students with all levels of experience.
