Meditative awareness requires more than mere attention. It also calls us to care.


Follow these simple instructions before you sit this week:

1. Begin your meditation with 5 to 10 minutes of metta.
2. During Insight practice, set the intention to receive everything that arises in the mind with caring attention.
3. Whenever you contract around any experience, ask yourself, “Is there love for this too?”
4. To remain fresh when an emotion arises say, “Ah, so this is what anger, grief… feels like. It is just like this.” As if it were happening for the first time.
