Attraction is in the eye of the beholder not in the object of our attraction. When we see that objects have no inherent loveliness or attractiveness we can began to dismantle the distortion that causes us to grasp after the pleasant. This week see if you can sense into this distortion around anything you like. What makes the object pleasing? Can you distinguish your opinion or perception from the object itself? Consider the unattractiveness or unpleasing aspects of the object. What happens then? Does this affect your opinion about the object? Do you fear seeing the unattractiveness will take away the joy or pleasantness of life? Is it possible that is a distortion as well?
