Weekly Practice Opportunities at Seattle Insight

Having an ongoing group to sit with can give strength and energy to our personal meditation practice – and help cultivate community! These weekly or bi-weekly groups are facilitated by a SIMS teacher or leader. To read more about these groups or to see upcoming topics, view the list of upcoming weekly practice sessions.

Seattle Insight offers one morning sit and a number of evening drop in sits throughout the week. Everything can be found on our Zoom Links page. All Zoom links are provided here.

If you have never meditated before or need a refresh, please consider taking an Introductory Meditation class. Learn more here

All of these sessions are drop-in and do not require advance registration.

The Thursday Night Sangha (formerly Capitol Hill Meditation Group) is a drop-in group dedicated to supporting the meditation practice of people living in the Seattle area. Previous Vipassana practice and/or previous attendance at a beginning meditation class is helpful but not essential. A 30 minute sit begins at 6:30 pm with a short dharma talk and open discussion following.  The evening closes at 8:30 with sharing the merit of practice.

Eastside Insight Meditation sits on 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 7 p.m.  Led by Steve Wilhelm, we meditate together and explore the teachings of the Buddha, based on the suttas and the Dharma of wise Theravada teachers. The group is warm and supportive, with an emphasis on communication. Please email Steve Wilhelm at stevellen95@comcast.net with any questions.

Monthly Affinity Sits

Description

The Seattle Insight BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Sangha meets online the third Sunday of the month at 4 PM PT. Our intention is to be a refuge, to foster solidarity, and to awaken together. We are an online-only group, as we want to be as accessible as possible to anyone who is interested. We will have a period of formal sitting and then discuss our experiences around the SIMS monthly teaching topic. This group is for anyone who self-identifies as BIPOC. All parts of you are welcome and celebrated here.

Our intention is to be a refuge, to foster solidarity, and to awaken together.

Refuge: We want to provide a welcoming environment for BIPOC practitioners who haven’t been able to practice elsewhere.

Solidarity: How can our collective wisdom hold our individual insights? We will contemplate the dhamma (Buddha’s teachings) through our direct, lived experiences.

Awaken together: May our voices and insights shape the future of the dhamma and together, realize that freedom isn’t something esoteric and unreachable for us, but real and attainable.

May all beings feel the freedom to be the most expanded, radically open and alive version of themselves. May all beings feel loved. May all beings remember that we belong – in this life just as it is.

Please join us online every third Sunday of the month at 4 PM PT.
