What is your relationship to your work life? How do you feel about going to work? When you describe what you do to others is there any exaggeration, hesitation, distortion, or inward apology? Spend the week doing what you do without judging whether it fits your definition of wise livelihood. Assess your work life in terms of interest rather than spiritual growth. What part(s) of your work do you delight in doing? Is there any way to enhance those areas or at least see them with fresh eyes? What qualities of mind are present when you are interested? Is there natural awareness and focus? Why is it interesting? Does it engage your heart, mind, or both? Can you find any of these interesting aspects of work in other areas of your life?
