Description

It is important to learn the meditation technique, but to adhere too strictly to the form of the practice can mask self-doubt. Risking doing it wrong begins the “art” of practice, and insight develops within the art of quiet observation free from the pressure of failure.

Homework

The effort you make is a product of your self-understanding. How much of your effort involves the belief of getting over or through some obstacle – the belief you have a problem to overcome, and you are separate from that problem? Is that the Principle of the Teaching? What effort would you make if you were in line with the principle of selflessness? This week arouse the effort to stay connected to a challenge and surrender your resistance rather than focus on overcoming an obstacle. Work with staying connected by relaxing and rejoining the experience at hand.
