How much are you driven by the fear of being meaningless and wasting your life? Are you haunted by what is lacking in your life? Is that fear pressured by your history (childhood, parental expectations, failed work life or relationships, ideas about success and failure) and/or from lack of interest in your present situation? What would make your life more significant than it is now? What prevents this from occurring?

Consider what is meaningful in this moment. If you think something needs to be added to make the present more significant then you will forever look for meaning in the future, and death will always to there to take it away. Notice when you release all resistance to the present, how meaningful it is on its own terms—life being lived for itself rather than for a goal. This week whenever you look toward the future for something more significant to occur, ask yourself, “Is what I am looking for truly meaningful?”
