This week spend time with someone with whom you have a problem, hold a prejudice against, or a strong opinion about. If you can’t sit down and have a direct conversation, increase your awareness of this person as he or she moves within your world. The prejudice is the mental blockage of the heart. It is where your fear resides. Within the blockage are all the mental rationales that keep the person justifiably separate. Look through the prejudice to the humanity in the other person. A person is more than the sum of his or her behavior and never defined by projection. Don’t let his/her behavior excuse closing your heart. Refuse to allow your mind to conclude anything about the person. Just keep saying, “May I open my heart to you. May I allow you to be who you are.”
