Description

Mindfulness is at the heart of the Buddha’s teaching, but few people understand how it evolves from the simple practice of being mindful into a mature, full-embodied awareness.

Homework

Mindfulness will never enter your life under force and duress because you think you “should” be mindful; it enters only when it is welcomed and wanted. Begin by backing way up and asking these fundamental questions: What is mindfulness and why introduce it into your life? Why not remain blissfully unaware? Do you really want to be conscious and self-aware? Go deeply into it and see what it provides both in value and limitation. How judgmental are you of your mindfulness, and are you able to pressure yourself to be more mindful? Under what conditions is it effortlessly sustained, and when does it seem self-driven and a burden on your routine?
