Homework

Someone once suggested the body was like a horse and consciousness the rider. We have to care for the horse, groom and exercise it, keep it clean and healthy. What is your relationship to your body? What areas are you remiss in your care of the body? What positive or negative history and images does the body represent? Can you be aware of this without reaction? This week use your body as the ground of your mindfulness. Watch any aversion or excessive concern for the body—when it is hurt, ill, or in pain. Begin to experientially investigate the body. Is it as dense as you believe? Who are you after the body dies? Where are you located within the body? How separate and distinct is the mind from the body?
