Description

Fear divides the mind by convincing us that the present is in the crosshairs of an approaching disaster. We therefore need to harness the power of our thinking and take flight physically and mentally away from now. If presence is maintained, fear has no way to access the moment except by projecting into the future.

Homework

Fear divides the mind by making the future more important than the present. Focus on any feared situation and see if you can settle with the situation as it is before the mind forges a future of disaster. See the choices before you. You can accept what is occurring now or follow the fear into the threatened future. Play with a fear. Stay soft and relaxed and move into the feared situation. See if what the mind says will happen in the future really does. Ask yourself, "What would I do now, if I were not afraid?" Asking this question will allow clarity to intervene where fear usually rules. Do not be persuaded by the thought messages of fear by changing course or altering your intended purpose. Try to move through the activity without flinching.
