Neighborhood Meeting Groups

Find a place to meet close to home

Small groups of meditators led by experienced SIMS practitioners have formed local meditation groups in a variety of neighborhoods. To learn about specific meetings, please consult the event calendar.

Kalyana Mitta groups are another way to meet up around an interest or topic. See listings of SIMS neighborhood KM groups, please see the Kalyana Mitta Groups page.

For all meetings during COVID-19, please see our Online Meeting page to get the most recent Zoom link to join meetings anywhere.

Group Descriptions

Eastside Insight Meditation sits on 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 7 p.m. To ask for a zoom link please send a message to Steve Wilhelm and he will send it to you!

Led by Steve Wilhelm, we meditate together and explore the teachings of the Buddha, based on the suttas and the Dharma of wise Theravada teachers. The group is warm and supportive, with an emphasis on communication.

The Eastside Insight Meditation group now operates on a hybrid model, so people can attend live via Zoom or in person. The in-person portion is in the chapel at Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church in 308 4th Ave S., Kirkland.

Thursday Night Sangha, formerly The Capitol Hill Meditation Group is a drop-in group dedicated to supporting the meditation practice of anyone who would like to join. Previous Vipassana practice and/or previous attendance at a beginning meditation class is helpful but not essential. A 30 minute sit begins at 6:30 pm with a short dharma talk and open discussion following.

More information can be found on TuereSala.org – Capitol Hill Sangha page.   If you are interested in getting blog posts about what the group is talking about, please register for Tuere’s email list on her site (above).

We are no longer meeting in person, this is always going to be online now.
