Meditation Practice Check-Ins (Online)
An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until July 27, 2022
Description
After taking an Introduction to Meditation Class, there are lots of questions that arise when you start to establish a regular practice.
Maybe you just want to know how to maintain mindfulness throughout the day. Maybe you’re still trying to establish a daily sitting practice and need some suggestions.
That’s why we are offering a weekly practice check-in series. This Online, weekly series starts on Wednesday, June 22, from 6:00-6:30pm. This is a place to ask any and all questions about your practice and learn how to bring mindfulness more fully into your busy everyday lives. The meditation practice check-in is being offered on a six-week trial basis, after which it will be re-evaluated. They will be hosted by dedicated practitioner, Nana Gyesie. Local Dharma Leader, Susan Alotrico, will offer a short five-minute talk and invite questions around common issues like sitting every day, working with emotions, or the busy mind.
Susan Alotrico says “Sometimes you just need to hear something said in a slightly different way that expresses what is happening in your practice to inspire and orient you in a new direction.”
Nana believes Individual practice is very key to continued deepening of a meditation practice. “Sharing with others in a community or sangha takes the experience to another level because of the shared interest in developing into consistent practitioners. The purpose of practicing with the Sangha is to accelerate one’s own growth of awareness through the example of others. Practicing alone requires discipline and desire, and practicing with a Sangha brings a sense of togetherness with others having a similar experience to you.”
All are welcome regardless of level of mediation practice. We ask you stay for the full 30 minutes. In this space, no one is required to participate or talk. Listening is a gift allowing others to share in an open and honest manner. We welcome you to just listen and reflect.
