This daylong will be led by Shawn Holmes and Marilyn Littlejohn. Marilyn and Shawn are graduates of Phillip Moffitt’s Skillful Change training.
“Eight worldly conditions spin after the world, and the world spins after these eight worldly conditions. Which eight? Gain, loss, status, disgrace, censure, praise, pleasure, & pain. These are the eight worldly conditions that spin after the world, and the world spins after these eight worldly conditions.” – Buddha
Life can be hectic. Unpredictable. Turbulent, at times. And with the modern world fighting for your constant attention, pulling you in multiple directions, it’s not easy finding the right balance. Not just a work-life balance. Or a family-life balance. But, the capacity to have inner balance even when outer circumstances are chaotic or beyond our control. Fundamental to all this unpredictability are changes and transitions. Change occurs throughout our lives. Underlying the change are the eight worldly conditions. Clinging to these conditions is dukkha.
Join us for this daylong to cultivate understanding and balance amid these eight worldly conditions. We will be using Phillip Moffitt’s map for skillfully working with the dukkha surrounding changes and transitions. This daylong will follow the traditional vipassana schedule, including meditations, walking periods and dharmettes.
