DESCRIPTION:The Thursday Night Sangha is a drop-in group dedicated to supporting the meditation practice of people living in the Seattle area and beyond. Previous vipassana practice and/or previous attendance at a beginning meditation class is helpful but not essential. A 30 minute sit begins at 6:30 PM with a short Dharma talk and open discussion following. Tuere gives a talk on the first Thursday of the month. Practice reflections from cohort members (advanced practitioners who Tuere chooses\, there are about 15 of us) are given on the following Thursday nights on the monthly topic. DESCRIPTION:The Climate Action Group at Seattle Insight was started in May of 2018 by a few sangha members concerned about the climate crisis. We are interested in working within our sangha and from the ground of our Dharma practice to learn\, understand\, connect\, and with wise intention and view\, take appropriate actions. \nWe meet monthly and have sponsored several programs at Seattle Insight. We have an online bulletin board with our mission\, goals\, and meeting notes\, as well as a variety of resources to deepen understanding of the climate crisis and how to take meaningful action.  We offer “Practices for a livable planet” as one way to engage with the climate crisis as Buddhist practitioners. \nSigning up to be on our email list provides access to our bulletin board and monthly invitations to attend our meetings. DESCRIPTION:The Thursday Night Sangha is a drop-in group dedicated to supporting the meditation practice of people living in the Seattle area and beyond. Previous vipassana practice and/or previous attendance at a beginning meditation class is helpful but not essential. A 30 minute sit begins at 6:30 PM with a short Dharma talk and open discussion following. Tuere gives a talk on the first Thursday of the month. DESCRIPTION:This monthly group welcomes families of all ages to join.  Keri Pederson and rotating facilitators will lead a guided meditation followed by open discussion time for parents\, while a second person supports kid play in a separate room. Afterward\, parents and kids will reunite for tea\, snacks and connection. \nWe will rely on a cooperative model to make the “quiet” meditation possible: depending on the number\, age and needs of children joining\, some parents may need to join the kid room while others practice in the meditation hall. Older kids who can sit or read silently can also stay with their parents during the meditation and discussion. Some coming and going between rooms is expected\, and the noisy warmth of family life is most welcome for this group! \nFormat\n\n10:00-10:10am Arrival and settling in\n10:10-11:00am Parents’ meditation and discussion in main hall; kids play in the North Room\n11:00-11:30am Family tea and connection (optional – stay as long as you like)\n\nQuestions\nWe would love to make this event work for every type of family. DESCRIPTION:Many folks start their week with Monday\, so we’ll start it off with kindness\, care\, love\, and goodwill. A rotating cast of leaders (Temira\, Judith\, Adam\, and perhaps others) will offer up a variety of forms of metta. Each week we’ll have a 30 minute sit. Sometimes\, if the leader has time\, there will be space after for questions and reflections\, but that’s totally optional for all involved. We’re there to open our hearts and create some goodness together as a sangha before we head out into the world. SUMMARY:Thursday Night Sangha (Online)
DESCRIPTION:The Thursday Night Sangha is a drop-in group dedicated to supporting the meditation practice of people living in the Seattle area and beyond. Previous vipassana practice and/or previous attendance at a beginning meditation class is helpful but not essential. A 30 minute sit begins at 6:30 PM with a short Dharma talk and open discussion following. Tuere gives a talk on the first Thursday of the month. Practice reflections from cohort members (advanced practitioners who Tuere chooses\, there are about 15 of us) are given on the following Thursday nights on the monthly topic.
