SUMMARY:Monday Morning Metta (MMM)
DESCRIPTION:Many folks start their week with Monday\, so we’ll start it off with kindness\, care\, love\, and goodwill. A rotating cast of leaders (Temira\, Judith\, Adam\, and perhaps others) will offer up a variety of forms of metta. Each week we’ll have a 30 minute sit. Sometimes\, if the leader has time\, there will be space after for questions and reflections\, but that’s totally optional for all involved. We’re there to open our hearts and create some goodness together as a sangha before we head out into the world. All experience levels are welcome! \nRegistration & Donation \nRegistration is not needed for this event. Dana is a term for generosity\, or freely offered giving. You can read more and offer dana for both Seattle Insight and the teachers here.

SUMMARY:Climate Action Group (Online)
DESCRIPTION:The Climate Action Group at Seattle Insight was started in May of 2018 by a few sangha members concerned about the climate crisis. We are interested in working within our sangha and from the ground of our Dharma practice to learn\, understand\, connect\, and with wise intention and view\, take appropriate actions. \nWe meet monthly and have sponsored several programs at Seattle Insight. We have an online bulletin board with our mission\, goals\, and meeting notes\, as well as a variety of resources to deepen understanding of the climate crisis and how to take meaningful action.  We offer “Practices for a livable planet” as one way to engage with the climate crisis as Buddhist practitioners. \nSigning up to be on our email list provides access to our bulletin board and monthly invitations to attend our meetings. If you are interested in getting on our email list\, please email Ken Yasuhara. If you would like more information about the group\, please contact Iris Antman.

SUMMARY:How to make our challenges our allies?
DESCRIPTION:What if\, by adjusting the perspective\, we could turn our challenges into fertile ground for inner cultivation? \nJoin Bhante Rāhula for an evening of exploration into how suffering itself can become an unexpected ally on the path. \nTeacher Bio\nBorn in Mexico\, Bhante Rāhula\, a former musician and composer\, moved to Asia in 2001 where he lived for 20 years and began the practice and study of the Buddha’s teaching. He was ordained in Myanmar under the Most Venerable Sayadaw Dr. Nandamālābhivaṃsa. \nSince 2004\, he has received meditation guidance from Sayadaw U Tejaniya and studied Sutta and Abhidhamma with Sayadaw Dr. Ukkamsacara in Macau. In 2019\, he completed a course on Buddhist scriptures from Harvard University. Bhante continued his monastic training at SBS in Malaysia for 2 years under the guidance of Venerable Ariyadhammika\, while offering Dhamma talks\, retreats\, and activities for the local community. \nIn 2025\, Bhante was invited to lead a pilgrimage-retreat to the sacred sites of the Buddha in India and Nepal with meditators from Malaysia\, Singapore\, Mexico\, and Brazil. He leads retreats and Dhamma tours across Asia\, North and South America in English\, Spanish and Portuguese\, and offers weekly in person and online classes since 2016. Bhante accompanies and supports students from 18 countries in their Dhamma practice and exploration. He is currently building the Mexican Buddhist Center (Paññābhūmi Monastery) to share the Buddha’s teachings and envisioning the making of a nunnery to support the female order in Latin America. \nRecognizing the immense challenges and lack of tools in the region\, Bhante -while keeping inner cultivation as his priority- supports programs in palliative care centers\, hospitals\, universities\, for youth education\, and in centers working for freedom from addictions\, a pressing issue affecting the lives of many. Embracing service as an expression of generosity\, Bhante Rāhula walks together with the community\, sharing the Dhamma while taking care and nurturing the path to liberation. \nRegistration & Donation\nRegistration is not required for this talk.  Dana is a term for generosity\, or freely offered giving. SUMMARY:Return to Belonging: The Heart of Who We Are (In-Person & Online)
DESCRIPTION:We all long to be happy. \nWe all long to feel at ease\, to be at peace\, and to know that we’re okay and we belong. When it feels like the world is on fire\, when divisiveness is commonplace\, it can seem harder than ever to access such belonging — both personally and collectively. \nMost of us are deeply habituated to believe that we are separate — from one another\, from the world\, and even from ourselves. We are habituated to fall for the story that we must fix ourselves in order to earn and experience deep connection. \nWe forget that belonging is already seated in the heart of who we are — and that it’s always available if only we look within. When we do\, we can transform far more than just our own lives. \nAsk yourself these questions: \n\nHave you ever touched this peace\, this contentment\, this deep return to belonging but then feared losing this experience?\nHave you ever struggled because you recognized the world around you did not reflect this experience of your true nature?\n\nThese questions will guide our time together as we explore how meditation\, mindfulness\, and contemplative technologies can — and must — be applied collectively. Our guided meditations will serve as a framework onto which we will begin to weave teachings with personal reflections. You will have the opportunity to connect to yourself\, others\, and the world beyond in solo and group exercises and discussions that inspire us to put our values into action. \nJoin us in this return to belonging — this remembering of the deepest truth of who we are — with the intention of using this understanding to transform our own lives and the world we share. \nLearning Outcomes\n\nClarify your understanding of who you truly are versus who you’ve been conditioned to be.\nRecognise your inherent belonging that transcends intellectual understanding of what it means to belong.\nLearn practical tools that can be applied to both personal and collective practice.\n\nExpected Activities\n\nMeditation\nJournaling\nInquiry through mindful exercises\nDyads\nGroup discussion\nWalking meditation\nDharma talks\nRecommended\, but not required\, reading: The Heart of Who We Are: Realizing Freedom Together\n\nTestimonial\nThis program doesn’t give you all the answers — it gives you a practical path to get closer to that sense of deep contentment we’re all looking for. It helped me find a new level in cultivating a practice of turning my focus inward\, which I believe will make a real difference in my daily life once practiced. I highly recommend it for anyone feeling stuck in the scramble for external happiness. \n— Oommen George\, The Heart of Who We Are Workshop\, Vancouver\, BC 2025 \nTeacher Bio\nNamed one of 2025’s powerful women of the mindfulness movement\, Caverly Morgan is a spiritual teacher\, nonprofit founder\, speaker\, and writer whose practice began in 1995 and has included eight years of training in a silent Zen monastery.
