The body may seem solid and separate, but it is actually comprised of basic elements of nature. In ancient times these were called earth, air, fire, and water. We can train ourselves to develop intimacy with the body through developing awareness of these dimensions of our physical life . We can also learn contemplations to break down our misperception of separation from nature. Through developing this way of seeing, taught in the Satipatthana Sutta, we can gain insight into the characteristics of the body and the world that can lead to greater freedom.
