Getting Started

Getting Started

For those who are new to meditation, we offer introductory meditation classes at our main center in the University District and other locations in Seattle and Eastside neighborhoods.

Introduction to Meditation Class

The in-person introductory meditation six-class series is taught four times a year. Click to learn more.

Introduction to Meditation Course Online

Introduction to Insight Meditation video course, taught by SIMS founding teacher Rodney Smith. This course was recorded in 2008 and provides the same instruction as the in-person course.

Ongoing Monday Evening Meditation and Dharma Talk

Once you've taken the introductory meditation class, or if you've received similar instruction in Insight Meditation elsewhere, we invite you to attend our two-hour Monday evening gatherings, which consist of a forty-minute meditation followed by a dharma talk or small-group discussion period. Please see the Ongoing Practice Support page for this and other opportunities for ongoing dharma practice.

Meditation Support Classes

Post-beginning Meditation Support classes are also taught throughout the year. These classes are for those who've completed the Introductory Meditation class in the past year or two and are interested in continuing to explore dharma and practice.
