Weekly Practice

Having an ongoing group to sit with can give strength and energy to our personal meditation practice – and help cultivate community! These weekly or bi-weekly groups are facilitated by a SIMS teacher or leader. To read more about these groups or to see upcoming topics, view the list of upcoming weekly practice sessions.

These sessions are drop-in and do not require advance registration

Tuesday Sit & Talk, 7:00 – 9:00pm

Led by: Tuere Sala, Tim Geil

40-minute meditation followed by a dharma talk, with small group discussions every other week. There is always a short break and an opportunity for Q&A.

Sunday Morning Sit & Talk, 10:00 – 11:30 AM

Led by: Sooz Appel, Lyndal Johnson, Tuere Sala, Danielle Sewell, Lauren Wilson

30-minute meditation followed by movement, a dharma talk, group discussion and Q&A.  Children over age 5 are welcome. At 11:30am all are invited to stay for tea, snacks and conversation.

Note: this weekly group does not meet on Sundays when there is a retreat being held at SIMS

Sunday “Under 40” Sit & Talk, 6:30 – 8:30 PM (2nd and 4th Sundays only)

Led by: Keri Pederson, Dina Maugeri

The Under 40 group is a practice group for people in their 20’s and 30’s. The sits are lead by Keri Pederson and rotating facilitators. An introduction to insight (vipassana) meditation, or mindfulness meditation, is helpful but not required.

Thursday Open Sit, 8:00am – 10:00am

Led by: Ellen McCown

40-minute sit (guided if beginners join) followed by facilitated dharma reflection and sharing. Second hour is open sitting and walking practice. You can arrive and leave freely throughout the 2-hour period.
