Dharma Talk - The Simile of the Movie: Letting Go of the Drama of Self
with Cheryl Slean
9:00 PM at Seattle Insight Meditation Center, (2729 6th Ave. S., Seattle, 98134) (Map It)
The Buddha was a wonderfully creative teacher who often invented similes and metaphors to shift the listener’s perspective and stimulate deeper understanding. Many of his comparisons used familiar objects and activities from people’s everyday lives of the time. In this talk and sit, we’ll follow in that esteemed tradition and update a simile or two from our modern world to reflect together on the nature of mind, experience, suffering and freedom. Could seeing through the illusory nature of self be, as the Buddha promised, the key to letting go of our dramas and discovering the peace of the liberated heart? Come join us and let’s take a look.
