with Sharon Salzberg
7/21/2012 9:00 AM - 7/22/2012 4:30 PM at Nalanda West (Map) (Saturday and Sunday)
Lovingkindness is a meditation that cultivates our natural capacity for an open and loving heart. It is traditionally offered along with meditations that enrich compassion, joy in the happiness of others, and equanimity. Together these four qualities are known as the Brahma Viharas, or boundless states. These practices lead to the development of concentration, fearlessness, and genuine happiness. Sharon Salzberg will introduce these teachings and support us in our own experience and cultivation of these qualities through direct instruction and guided meditation using classical techniques in a modern idiom. There will also be many opportunities for questions. This retreat is suitable for both new and experienced meditators.
Nalanda West is located at the intersection of a residential street and commercial businesses. In order to maintain good relations with our residential neighbors, Nalanda West staff asks that program participants avoid parking on Woodland Park Ave N. north of Nalanda West.
Parking is generally available in the two small interconnected parking lots behind Nalanda West. Across Bridge Way N. at the Bridgeway Building (3876 Bridge Way) there are 14 parking spaces. There is generally parking available in front of the building, south on 39th and Woodland Park, and along Bridge Way N.
Each day of this retreat begins at 9:00am and ends at 4:30pm.
