DESCRIPTION:The Zen tradition is famous for emphasizing the dynamic lives of the masters as being more expressive of the dharma than the written teachings. Unfortunately\, like almost all religions\, the lineage of masters is almost entirely male. In recent years\, western Zen centers have been working to correct this omission\, with much scholarship being done on Zen's women ancestors. The retreat will celebrate the tales of Zen's women teachers throughout history - every bit as dynamic as the men!- using them as takeoff points for understanding the spiritual challenges we face today.\nEach day of this retreat begins at 9:00am and ends at 4:30pm. The retreat will meet in room 1062\, Hemlock Room.\nVolunteering: SIMS needs 10-15 volunteers to help at each event. If you are planning to attend and would like to help (with set up\, clean up\, tea service\, sound system etc.) please click the Email Us button below to contact us.\nThe suggested event donations are $70 for Sat and Sun or $40 for one day plus dana for the teacher.\nRefund Policy\nIf you need to cancel your reservation\, you can do so by logging into your SIMS account and clicking "My Events" in the tool bar located in the top right\ncorner. If you’ve already paid for the class\, you have several options regarding your payment. You may receive a refund of your event donation (less a $10.00\nhandling fee) IF you send an email refund request to the registrar PRIOR to the start of the event. Email \nregistrar@seattleinsight.org. No full or partial refunds will be given after the start of the first day/class. Alternatively\, you may apply your registration\nfee to another class\, or donate your fee to SIMS' scholarship fund.
