A Word About Dana

The Buddha: "It is this way we must train ourselves: by liberation of the self through love. We will develop love, we will practice love, we will make it both a way and a basis, take our stand upon it, store it up, and thoroughly set it going."

In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are considered so precious as to be priceless. They are thus given freely, with the opportunity to offer voluntary donations, or dana. Dana is the ancient Pali word for "spontaneous generosity of the heart."

SIMS is capable of receiving dana online with your credit card, processed securely by Network For Good.  It is possible to give both anonymously and to leave your name.

To direct a gift to SIMS for use in general operations, such as rental fees for meditation halls, newsletter production and maintenance of this web site, click the dana basket below.  Network For Good retains a small processing fee and provides SIMS with 97% of your gift amount.

Our guiding teacher Rodney Smith is supported entirely by dana.  If you wish to direct a gift to Rodney, use the SIMS dana basket, but look for the Designation field.  Specify here that your gift is for Rodney.

All gifts are 100% tax-deductible. Amounts over $250 to either Rodney Smith or SIMS will receive a tax deductible receipt provided by Network For Good for the donor's tax records, if names and addresses are included.

If you would like to give a gift by check, make your check payable to SIMS and mail to:
