Shared Interest Groups

The following table contains the currently existing Shared Interest groups within SIMS. Shared Interest groups are another way to nurture practice and develop friendships within the larger SIMS community. These groups do not require facilitators and are usually more informal than KM groups. Each Shared Interest group depends on a contact person to handle information about meetings. If you have a hobby or activity that you would like to share with other SIMS attendees (for example, seeing movies, taking hikes, sewing quilts, or kayaking), please consider organizing an Shared Interest group. To find out if other meditators are interested in your topic, please contact Pamela Johnson, the Shared Interest groups coordinator.

  • Mountain Meditation

    Description:

A series of silent day-long Mountain Meditations will be offered in the Cascade and Olympic mountains, and around the Puget Sound area, beginning January 2010.  The intention is to foster mindfulness and awareness of self in nature, and of our interconnectedness with all beings.  We will alternate 30 minutes of hiking with 5-10 minutes of sitting meditation, throughout the day.  There will be a lunch break, and a brief verbal check-in.

Will leave from 65th St. NE Park& Ride (Beneath I-5) at 7:00am.

Bring lunch, water, appropriate hiking gear including warm clothing, foam pad for sitting.

    Meeting time:

    One Saturday each month. For 2010: January 30, February 27, April 10, May1, June 5, July 3
