  • Georgetown Weekly Meditation Group

    Description:

This weekly meditation group uses the Tibetan Buddhist teachings of Lojong to provide a structured practice for the development of wisdom and compassion. These teachings, outlined in Norman Fischer's book, Training in Compassion: Zen Teachings on the Practice of Lojong, include the integration of Insight meditation, Tonglen meditation, and a set of slogans which act as antidotes to various mental habits that cause suffering. Through community practice and the sharing of our own experiences we explore compassion as an inherent quality of awakening, a call to wise action, and a gateway to the Buddha's most profound teachings. This weekly group is led by local dharma leader Rachel Fiala.

To join the group: Please join on the first Wednesday of the month. An orientation to the teachings and practices of Lojong will be provided to help you settle in. It is helpful to have completed a SIMS Intro Series or other training that allows you to sit in silence for 30-40 minutes.

$5 suggested donation for the space, plus dana for the teacher.

    Meeting time:

    Wednesday evenings, 7:15 - 9:00 PM

    Location:

Yogasmith Studio, 5917 Airport Way S,  Seattle, WA

Yogasmith is located right above Jules Maes' Saloon. The door to the Smith is on Airport Way just north of Jules Maes’ door. There is plenty of free parking along Airport Way, or on Nebraska street (the alley just south of the building). You can park in the alley where it is permitted, or behind the building in any parking space that has John Bennett’s name on it.
